The cabinet has approved a proposal to complete unfinished constructions in 6 universities halted due to the Covid 19 pandemic and subsequent economic crisis.

Requests have been made by the Moratuwa, Peradeniya, Buddhist and Pali, Sabaragamuwa, Kelaniya and Sri Jayewardenepura universities to complete the projects stopped half-way.

The cabinet approved completing construction related to residential facilities, canteens and other public facilities that have been identified to be implemented on a priority basis during 2025 following the prescribed procurement process, and to continue the remaining work in 2026, revising the scope of constructions based on the requirements.
