Colombo Air Symposium this week
View(s):The Colombo Air Symposium (CAS) 2025, the annual international academic forum of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), will be held on February 10 and 11 at the BMICH in Colombo.
It’s the seventh consecutive year of the event, and this year it is being held under the guidance and supervision of the new Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinghe.
The theme of this year’s symposium is “Transforming Air and Space Power for a Resilient Tomorrow: Prospects for Air Forces of the Indian Ocean Rim” and will bring together intellectuals, diplomats, military leaders, policymakers and technological experts to explore the evolving role of air and space power in the contemporary global security environment.
Deputy Minister of Defence Major General (Retd) KP Aruna Jayasekara will be the chief guest, while Dr Brian W Cole PhD, Eisenhower School, National Defence University, Washington, DC will deliver the keynote address. The symposium will see the participation of delegates from the air forces of IORA member countries and dialogue partners, along with foreign research authors and high-ranking officers from all three armed forces.
The symposium will provide a platform to examine the evolving role of air forces in the region. Discussions will focus on adapting to rapid technological advancements, addressing regional security challenges and enhancing aerial diplomacy to ensure operational resilience.
The forum will be structured around five key sub-themes, each addressing critical aspects of modern air and space power namely; strategic regional security dynamics, air and space power in technological advancement, exploring the frontier, air and space power for blue economy advancement.
