Drones to be regulated: New Air Marshal

Newly appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal Bandu Edirisinge has said that the unregulated flying of drones could have dangerous consequences and that the sector needs to be regulated.
The Air Marshal made the comments while speaking to the media after visiting the Dalada Maligawa in Kandy and the chief prelates of the Asgiriya and Malwatte chapters.

He said the use of drones needs to be regulated as soon as possible to avoid a serious situation in the future.
The SLAF will work with the Navy to safeguard the country’s territory using helicopters as additional support, he said, adding that the SLAF also can help combat the entry of illegal drugs into the country, refugees and illegal fishing activities.
The Air Force Commander is an old boy of St Sylvester’s Kandy.
