Major changes in police reshuffle
View(s):The National Police Commission has approved the transfer of several high-ranking police officers, including Senior Deputy Inspectors General (SDIG) and Deputy Inspectors General (DIG), with the changes set to take effect from February 12.
Among the key transfers, SDIG Waruna Jayasundara, who previously served as the Commandant of the Police Special Task Force (STF), has been assigned as the SDIG in charge of the Eastern Province. DIG D.G.S. De Silva, serving in the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts, will take over as the new STF Commandant.
Additionally, several other Senior DIGs and DIGs have been reassigned to different provinces. SDIG W.K. Jayalath has been transferred from the North Western Province to the Southern Province; SDIG Ajith Rohana from the Eastern Province to the North Western Province; and SDIG S.W.M. Senarathne from the Southern Province to the Uva Province.
SDIG U.P.A.D.K.U. Karunanayake has been transferred from the Uva Province to the Special Security Directorate, while DIG S.D. Wijesekera has been assigned additional responsibilities as the DIG in charge of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu, in addition to his current role overseeing Vavuniya and Mannar.
