Ven Wathawana Sirisumana Nayake Thera conferred Deputy Chief Sangha Nayake

Ven Wathawana Sirisumana Nayake Thera was conferred the title Deputy Chief Sangha Nayake of the Kotte Raja Maha Vihara Chapter of the Kotte Sri Kalyani Samagri Dharma Maha Sangh Sabha of the Siam Sect yesterday at the Siam Royal Temple.
Born on April 15, 1958 in Imaduwa, Galle, he was ordained at the age of 10 years under the tutelage of Ven Wathawana Dharmarama Nayake Thera at the Sri Saddharama Purana Vidyalaya. The thera continued his monastic education at Sri Sumanatissa Pirivena, Pinwatte Purana Vidyalaya, Dehiwela and Sri Gnaneswara Pirivena, Gangaraamaya, Hunupitiya.
Ven Sirisumana Nayake Thera received his BA and MA from the University of Kelaniya and commenced his teaching career at Vidyaloka Vidyalaya, Ambagahawewa, Nochchiyagama. Later he taught at Thalawa Maha Vidyalaya, Anuradhapura and was later made a Senior Buddhist Dharmacharya at Nalanda College, Colombo from 1990-2018.
A trustee of the W A Silva Foundation which manages the W A Silva Museum at the novelist’s home in Wellawatte, Ven Sirisumana Nayake Thera has travelled abroad widely on dhammadutha missions.
