Subarnan guides Jaffna in 14th Battle of Hindus
A six-wicket haul by S. Subarnan helped Hindu College, Jaffna to record a comfortable 64-run win over traditional rivals Hindu College, Colombo in their annual 14th Battle of Hindus big match concluded at Hindu College ground in Jaffna yesterday.
The second day’s play saw Hindu Jaffna, resuming their second innings from their overnight score of 71 for 2, going on to make 170 for 9 before declaring. Hindu Colombo, chasing 252 runs for victory despite a knock of 72 coming from Suresh Midushegan, succumbed to Subarnan and was bowled out for 187 runs. The win saw Hindu Jaffna chalking up their fourth win of the series to their opponents’ three wins.
