Thurstan in line for early win
Thurstan College has put themselves in a strong position to record an outright win against De Mazenod when play ended on day two in the Under-19 Division I Tier ‘B’ quarter-final encounter played at Darley Road yesterday.
Resuming from their overnight score of 194 for 4, Thurstan managed only 217 in the first innings in reply to De Mazenod’s 153. In the second essay De Mazenod ended the day on 89 for 9– a lead of just 25 runs.
Mahinda College, Galle along with St. Anne’s College, Kurunegala and St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa have already taken first-inning leads while Vidyartha College qualified to the semi-final of the Division II Tier ‘A’ category with an outright win over St. John’s College, Panadura in the quarter-final match concluded at Kandy. Other matches will continue today.
