Young Rozeth, a badminton champion in the making
View(s):Rozeth Dias, a student at Our Lady Of Victories Convent in Moratuwa, commenced playing badminton at her tender age of seven. The school sports coaches identified her innate talent when she began playing the game seriously and after she triumphed at many school tournaments. Rozeth, now 14, had persisted her passion as a badminton player, winning tournaments she participated, organised by Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) as well. In these tournaments Rozeth had been awarded constantly many with certificates, medals and trophies.
It was recently that Rozeth participated in the 72nd National Badminton Championships organised by the SLB, where she received a ranking in the Under-15 age category. Rozeth also participated in the Eastern Province Badminton Championships where she reached the semi-finals improving her ranking. In addition Rozeth and her partner earned the second runners-up in the Girls’ Under-15 Doubles category. Her parents Ravi and Shashi Dias devoted much of their valued time despite been busy in their respective professions as a banker and a senior executive.
