Celebrating Excellence in Commercial Law Education: The Institute for the Development of Commercial Law and Practice (ICLP)
View(s):For over three decades, the Institute for the Development of Commercial Law and Practice (ICLP) has been at the forefront in mastery of legal education in various disciplines in Sri Lanka. Established in 1992, and funded by the nation’s top private sector companies, ICLP is dedicated to advancing commercial law, enhancing legal practices, and contributing to Sri Lanka’s transition to a thriving market economy.
ICLP’s mission goes beyond education; it’s about shaping the future of commercial law and empowering professionals to thrive. The Institute has established a reputation for excellence by delivering innovative programmes and fostering the development of industry leaders.
Since launching the Diploma in Commercial Arbitration in 2005, ICLP has produced over 1,000 diplomates, now recognized as arbitrators, consultants, and experts in their fields. These professionals are shaping Sri Lanka’s legal and business sectors with the skills they gained at ICLP.
In partnership with the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), ICLP also introduced the Shipping Law and Practice Diploma Course, a vital programme for both shipping industry professionals and attorneys.ICLP continues to innovate with a range of Certificate Courses and Short Courses covering areas like Commercial Law, Company Law, Intellectual Property, Construction Adjudication, and Arbitration. The successful candidates of these programmes conducted in the last year will be honored at the Annual Awards Ceremony on March 14, 2025, at the BCIS Auditorium.
Looking ahead, ICLP is excited to introduce a series of guest lectures and plans to launch further programmes in Intellectual Property and Shipping Law designed to keep you ahead of the curve in an ever-changing legal world.
