Multimillion box office record hit ‘Padmaavat’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been re-released eight years after its original launch and now being screened in Sri Lanka. This 2018 historical drama based on the epic poem of the same name by Malik Muhammad Jayasi revolved around a Sri Lankan queen and that the fierce battle waged to win the heart of the dazzling beauty.

The big budgeted movie starring Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor, made a huge US$66 million collection making it the third highest-grossing Indian film of 2018.

In medieval India, a tyrannical sultan and his army attack a prosperous kingdom to try and capture the beautiful Queen Padmavati. Her husband Maharawal Ratan Singh assembles his valiant forces to defend his land and the honour of his beloved wife. Deepika Padukone plays as Rani Padmavati, a Sinhalese-born Rajput queen known for her beauty, wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, played by Shahid Kapoor. Sultan Alauddin Khilji, played by Ranveer Singh, hears of her beauty and attacks her kingdom to enslave her.

Imported by Liberty Cinemas Ltd, the film released on February 14 is now being screened at Colombo City Centre, SCOPE Cinema – Havelock City Mall, Regal  Dematagoda, Regal Katubadda- Moratuwa, Ram Cinema Wattala and PVR cinemas
