Gateway College to host 23rd International Schools’ Athletics Championship 2025

Gateway College, a pioneer in international school education, is set to host the prestigious 23rd International Schools’ Athletics Championship (ISAC) 2025 at the Sugathadasa Stadium on February 22 and 23. Since its inception in 2001, ISAC has grown into the premier sporting event on the international schools’ calendar, showcasing the athletic excellence of students from 22 renowned international schools.

A legacy of sporting excellence

Founded by the late R.I.T. Alles, ISAC has played a pivotal role in elevating the standard of athletics among international schools, leaving a lasting impact on the nation’s sporting landscape. Over the years, the event has nurtured young talent, with several athletes progressing to national and international levels.

The championship is expected to attract approximately 1,500 athletes and 300 technical officials, representing the participating schools. With an anticipated audience of over 15,000 students, parents, and alumni, ISAC 2025 promises to be a grand celebration of athleticism, determination, and camaraderie.

Elevating sportsmanship and talent

Dr. Harsha Alles, Chairman of Gateway Group and the Founder Chairman of The International Schools of Sri Lanka (TISSL), underscored the significance of ISAC as a platform for nurturing young athletes.

He stated, “ISAC has become a crucial event in identifying and developing junior athletes of international repute. The standard of athletics among international schools has consistently advanced, with many students excelling at national and international competitions.”

Ensuring fair play and professionalism

Harshana Perera, Chairman of TISSL, confirmed that ISAC 2025 will be conducted in strict adherence to TISSL regulations and the International Amateur Athletics Federation (IAAF) Competition Rules. To ensure uniformity and fairness, all participating athletes will carry a standardised identity card issued by TISSL.

With top-tier competition, enthusiastic participation, and strong institutional backing, ISAC 2025 is set to be an unforgettable event, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship and excellence in athletics.
