The Education Ministry has instructed all provincial education directors to provide a grace period for teachers to complete their module exams before June 30.

According to a letter issued by the Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Nalaka Kaluwewa, the Public Service Commission had approved providing a grace period for teachers who have not completed their modules under the prevailing teacher efficiency cut-off system until June 30.

The commission, which issued a letter to the ministry, had said that a considerable number of teachers for reasons beyond their control had not been able to

complete their modules, and therefore they have considered the matter and approved the grace period until the new teacher efficiency cut-off system gets implemented from July 1.

Teachers are required to complete module exams to secure permanency as well as reach higher grades. (KW)
