CA Sri Lanka’s SAB Campus awards scholarships for A/L students to pursue Applied Accounting and Business Analytics degrees during 19A & 3A intakes
View(s):In continuing to shape the future of higher education across the country, the SAB Campus of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) celebrated a major achievement with the launch of Intake 19A for the B.Sc. in Applied Accounting and Intake 3A for the B.Mgt. in Business Analytics at a ceremony held at the CA Sri Lanka auditorium recently.
The event was graced by Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, President of CA Sri Lanka; Mr. Tishan Subasinghe, Vice President of CA Sri Lanka; Ms. Anoji De Silva, Council Member; Ms. Chandramalie Korale, Senior Member of CA Sri Lanka; Mr. Chandana Guniyagoda, Member of the Board of Management of SAB Campus; and Ms. Lakmali Priyanka, CEO of CA Sri Lanka.
A highlight of the event was the launch of the new Siru Diri Scholarship Fund, a visionary initiative that aims to support outstanding and deserving students in their academic journey, ensuring financial constraints do not hinder their pursuit of excellence. The fund has already received commitments from multiple donors, with Ms. Korale being the first donor towards this noteworthy cause.
The scholarships were awarded for students to follow the flagship degree offered at the SAB Campus, which is the Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting and Bachelor of Management in Business Analytics.
Meanwhile, SAB Campus is now accepting applications for the Sisu Diriya Scholarship Fund, offering an exceptional opportunity for students to further their education without financial constraints. The scholarship programme is open to eligible candidates who have achieved a minimum of 3 C passes at the GCE Advanced Level Examination with an annual family income of less than LKR 480,000.
In his address, Mr. Kuruppu emphasised the evolving role of accounting and business analytics in today’s corporate world. “Success in the modern business landscape extends beyond numbers and data. The combination of professional qualifications, technical skills, soft skills, and networking opportunities is crucial for career growth. CA Sri Lanka’s strong alumni and member network plays a pivotal role in supporting our SAB graduates as they advance in their careers,” he said.
The B.Sc. in Applied Accounting is designed to equip students with a deep understanding of accounting, financial management, and business operations. Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Ministry of Education, it offers students a two-year built-in internship programme, strong professional networks, and exemptions for professional certifications such as CA, ACCA, CIMA, and AAT. Career opportunities for graduates include roles such as Chartered Accountant, Management Accountant, Financial Analyst, and Tax Consultant.
The B.Mgt. in Business Analytics prepares students for dynamic careers that merge business management with data analytics. With an industry-relevant curriculum, hands-on case studies, and practical projects, the programme trains students to work with advanced analytical tools like Excel, R, Python, and Tableau. Career paths include Business Analyst, Data Scientist, Risk Analyst, and Marketing Analyst.
Further, with the new CA Sri Lanka Curriculum 2025 being introduced this year, exemptions will also be granted for the Business Analytics degree. The final exemption details are currently being reviewed and will be confirmed in due course.
Prospective students who sat for the 2024 GCE A/L examination and wish to enrol still have the opportunity to apply for the degree programs at the SAB Campus until the end of March 2025.
