China’s NEAC Minister visits Peradeniya University to foster ties

A delegation led by Minister Pan Yue of China’s National Ethnic Affairs Commission met Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Ranjith Pallegama of the University of Peradeniya to promote enhanced educational exchange and cooperation and to explore avenues for deepening academic and cultural collaboration.

The delegation included Director General of the International Department Wei Guoxiong, Deputy Director General of the Department for National Solidarity Xu Fubang, Director of the International Department Qiu Peng, Deputy Director of the General Office of NEAC Chen Xicong, and Deputy Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at Minzu University of China Qu Qiang.

The university was represented by Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Lilantha Samaranayake, Director of the International Relations Office Professor Sanjeewa Malawiarachchi, and Professor Leena Seneheweera from the Department of Fine Arts.

The discussions focused on fostering mutual understanding and building sustainable educational partnerships.

In addition to formal meetings, the delegation enjoyed a guided tour of the university’s expansive gardens and admired the picturesque campus surroundings.

The discussion closed with a strong resolution by both parties to further strengthen bilateral ties, paving the way for future joint projects, student exchanges, and cultural initiatives that promise to benefit both nations.
