Mallika Nivasa marks Founder’s Day with Pirith ceremony and Sangika Dana

Mallika Nivasa Samithiya, founded in 1920 by Mrs. Mallika Hewavitarne, mother of Anagarika Dharmapala held its annual all night Pirith ceremony last Thursday followed by a noon Sangika Dana to commemorate Founder’s Day.

The 125 year old Society, among the oldest volunteer societies in the country, manages a Home for the Elderly, a Child Development Centre in Ragama, a Child Development Centre in Colombo, and a Paying Home for Ladies.

Pictures show an elderly inmate presenting alms to the monks, and the President and members of the Executive Committee participating in the ceremony.
