‘Tentigo’ goes to history as first Lankan film to be remake internationally

Tentigo creates history as the first Sri Lankan Film to be remade into multiple languages. South Indian remake – In Tamil language and Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam dubbed has been already created in collaboration with Stone Bench Films, a renowned film production company in South India. Ilango himself directed the first official remake of Nelum Kuluna in India, titled Perusu (in tamil) and Pedha (in Telugu) and Hiranya Perera holds producer credits in the film.
The North Indian remake is to be done in Hindi with a renowned North Indian company. In the West, an Italian company has taken up the Spanish and Italian remakes while French and Belgium remakes are underway. The USA remake is scheduled to be done with a renowned Korean company.
Among the international accolades the film won, the Special Jury Award at Black Nights Film Festival at Tallinn in Estonia. It represented Sri Lanka at the Sao Paulo International Film Festival – Brazil, AFRIFF African Film Festival – Nigeria, Glasgow Film Festival, UK, Karawan Film Festival – Italy, UK Asian Film Festival, Fribourg International Film Festival – Switzerland and Eikhoigi International Film Festival – Imphal, India. Tentigo won the Best Picture – Cinema of tomorrow – Derana LUX Film Festival – Sri Lanka
