Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda, hosted the Thomas De Silva Oration 2025 at the school auditorium, marking a milestone in the institution’s history.

This prestigious event, now in its second year, is organised by the Past Pupils Association – Colombo Branch of Dharmasoka College, (DCPPA) paying tribute to the school’s founder, Mudliyar Santiago Thomas De Silva, and reinforcing the institution’s commitment to education and personal development.

The oration was delivered by Dr Ruwan Fernando, an alumnus and Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, London.

Dr Fernando has a career spanning decades in both Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom. He has contributed to medical research with over 75 peer-reviewed publications, and holds multiple accolades, including the Harold Malkin Prize for Best Original Research awarded by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

In his keynote address, titled “Building a Life of Ideals – Through Knowledge and Discipline,” Dr Fernando shared insights, inspiring students to embrace discipline and continuous learning as the foundation of success. His speech was intellectually enriching and included valuable health advice, making it both educational and thought-provoking.

The event was graced by members of the school community, past teachers, past pupils, and the general public, all of whom had the unique opportunity to engage with thought-provoking ideas relevant to today’s world.

The Past Pupils Association – Colombo Branch extends its gratitude to all those who contributed to making this oration a resounding success, further strengthening Dharmasoka College’s legacy as a beacon of knowledge and discipline.
