The comedy film ‘Houseful’, directed by Lal Priyadewa and produced by Mohan Perera along with the veteran producer Sunil T. Fernando, will hit cinemas soon.

Featuring a star-studded cast, the film brings together veteran actors and rising stars, including Jeewan Kumaratunga, Isuru Lokuhettiarachchi, Chulakshi Ranatunga, Teddy Vidyalankara, Mihiri Sirithilake, Saman Hemarathna, Damitha Abeyratne, Kusum Renu, D.B. Gangodathanna, and Shalika Edirisinghe. ‘Houseful’ also introduces several newcomers to the silver screen.

‘Houseful’ is set in Ella, Sri Lanka’s scenic tourism hub in the mountains, and follows the story of businessman Weerawansa, who owns the star-class hotel ‘Mount Heaven’. In a surprising turn, he decides to sell the property for half of its actual price—primarily due to his ongoing feud with Sumith, or ‘Summa’(Isuru), a tough and outspoken man who runs a small tea kiosk opposite the hotel.

The hotel is soon bought by businessman from Colombo, Dhanawansa (Jeewan Kumaratunga). However, the hotel’s manager, Brando (Saman Hemarathna), reveals that Weerawansa sold the property at a loss because of Summa, who had been a constant nuisance to the previous owner. Determined to assert his authority, Dhanawansa vows to remove the tea kiosk and deal with Summa within 24 hours. However, he soon realises that Summa is no pushover—he’s a strong-willed, tough character who refuses to back down.

Amidst this escalating rivalry, Dhanawansa’s daughter, Umeshi (Chulakshi), returns from the United Kingdom for a vacation. Along with her friends, she travels across Sri Lanka, exploring its beauty. Umeshi is in a relationship with Ashen, a dubious character who charms wealthy girls only to exploit them financially.

As tensions rise between Summa and Dhanawansa, Umeshi begins to see Summa in a different light, realising that he isn’t as bad as her father claims. She befriends him, setting the stage for an unexpected friendship—and possibly more—between two individuals from very different worlds. Meanwhile, the clash between Summa and Dhanawansa continues, making ‘Houseful’ taking many dramatic twists and turns, blending humor, rivalry and unexpected relationships into an engaging storyline. As tensions escalate and new connections form, Houseful keeps audiences entertained with its mix of comedy, drama, and surprises.

Presented by Thawthisa Pictures Pvt Ltd, ‘Houseful’ marks the 75th film produced by Sunil T. Fernando. The film is set to be released in April at MPI circuit cinemas across the country.
