Printers Sixes next Saturday at NCC
The Printers Sixes 2025, one of the key events in the Sri Lanka Association of Printers’ (SLAP) calendar, will take place on March 29 at the NCC grounds in Colombo. This year marks the 12th consecutive edition of the tournament, and it promises to be more than just a cricket event—a festival for the entire family.
This year, the tournament has reached a new milestone with 64 teams registered, including 10 women’s teams, the highest number so far according to Project Chairman Udaya Hettiarachchi. The competition will feature cash prizes, making it an exciting challenge for the participating teams. In the men’s category, the winning team will receive 100,000 rupees, while the runners-up will take home 50,000 rupees. Individual awards for Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Match, and Man of the Series will each be rewarded with 10,000 rupees. The women’s category will also offer cash prizes, with the winning team receiving 25,000 rupees and the runners-up 15,000 rupees.

The excitement for the tournament was heightened at the official press conference held on Wednesday (March 19), where the team jerseys and trophies were unveiled, setting the stage for an exhilarating event.
Beyond cricket, the event will offer a variety of attractions for families and attendees. Organiser Deshantha Silva said there will be bouncers and a dedicated play area for children, alongside food and beverage stalls, including ice cream stands. A DJ and a traditional Papare band will keep the energy high throughout the day, while a beer stall will be available with coupon-based purchases. For those seeking a more exclusive experience, a VIP lounge for sponsors will be available for 6,000 rupees. The event will run from 7:00a.m to 7:00p.m., ensuring a full day of sports and entertainment.
“This is one of the main events in the SLAP calendar, and there are several reasons behind organising a sports activity like this. The first is encouraging teamwork and collaboration. Then, building strong networking opportunities to bond over our industry and stakeholders. Next, it promotes healthy competition, enhances employee morale and well-being, unites a diverse workforce, strengthens industry association and organisation, and enhances brand image and social responsibility,” Organiser Janaka Rathnakumara explained.
The tournament will follow a structured format, beginning with a team briefing on March 26, where participants will be informed about the rules and facilities available. The first round will be played in a league format, after which the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals will transition into a knockout format. The 64 teams will be divided into four groups, competing across four pitches. Each over in the first round will be limited to four balls.
