Ven Derangala Thero receives honorary degree

Ven Derangala Mangala Thero who has been performing national religious and educational services for the development of Theravada Buddhism for a long time, has launched over 12 Buddhist scriptures and distributed them free to the public. He is a chanter of dhamma and has spread the knowledge of dhamma both locally and internationally.

As a writer he has contributed newspaper and magazine articles.

In appreciation of his services over 56 years he was awarded the ‘Uddesa Maha Pandita’ honorary degree by Rajamangala University, Chulalankara University in Thailand, and Eurasian University of Sri Lanka.

A ceremony was orgnanised to welcome the chief incumbent of Keththarama and Mathri Monastry, retired teacher of Southlands College, Uddesa Maha Pandita Shasthrapathi Ven Derangala Mangala Thero at the Bandaranaike conference hall with the participation of the chancellor thero and staff.

Chief Sanganayake Maha Somnik Aththasiddho thero of Rajapura City, Proffessor of International Religious Affairs and Psychology of Chulalankara University, Wilgamuwe Ariyarathne thero, the chancellor thero, vice chancellor thero and registrar of Eurasian University participated in this event.
