Mahendra nominated for the Best Supporting Actor

Prasanna Vithanage’s ‘Paradise’ main actress Darshana Rajendran won the Best Actress award at the 7th Critics’ ‘Choice Awards’ for her role in the Sri Lanka-India joint production.
In the film which sets in the backdrop of Sri Lanka’s economic crisis, Darshana portrays Amritha who arrived seeking peace, but ends in a completely different destiny for her future.
For the role as a police inspector, Sri Lankan actor Mahendra Perera was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award at the festival which was held in India on March 25.

Among the number of international acclaims, last year Prasanna’s Indo-Sri Lankan production won the Audience Jury Awards at the ‘Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival’ in Spain.
Revolving around a couple who visits Sri Lanka in a time of economic and political turmoil “Paradise” also had won the prestigious Kim Jiseok Award for Best Film at the Busan International Film Festival. ‘Paradise’ was‘nominated for the Best Film, Best Director and the Best Screenplay for Prasanna Vithanage and Anushka Senanayake and the Best Editor for A. Sreekar Prasad.
Presented by Mani Ratnam under his Madras Talkies banner and produced by Newton Cinema, ‘Paradise’ stars Roshan Mathew and Darshana Rajendran from Indian cinema joined by Shyam Fernando and Mahendra Perera from
Sri Lanka.
