Leading auctioneers Schokman & Samerawickreme, will hold an Art Auction on April 6 at their flagship showroom and sales centre at No. 63, Isipathana Mawatha, Colombo 05.

As auctioneers of art, antiques, furniture, motor vehicles, land, buildings, and machinery, the firm has built a reputation for professionalism and reliability over the past 133 years.

“In the years since Schokman & Samerawickreme established its dedicated art auctions, we have successfully auctioned more than 2,000 paintings, attracting an elite audience of collectors, investors, and art patrons locally and internationally. Our art auctions are now keenly sought after by both buyers and sellers who value the integrity and professionalism that define our approach. We have also included paintings from budding artists, enabling them to showcase their artwork. Each art auction is meticulously curated and involves months of research, verification, and communication with collectors. This auction– Collector’s Edition: Vol. III is an occasion for art collectors, investors, and enthusiasts alike and will feature approximately 40 artists and approximately 75 exceptional paintings including works by members of the ‘43 Group’ – George Keyt, Ivan Peries, L.T.P. Manjusri, George Claessen and Richard Gabriel.

The auction will also present pieces by acclaimed artists such as Stanley Kirinde, A.C.G.S. Amarasekera, Maisie de Silva and contemporary artists such as Raja Segar, Ranjith Perera, Jagath Weerasinghe, Amaresh Pereira, Dulika Silva and Tilak Samarawickrema. Additionally, this year’s auction will include paintings by international artists with a connection to Sri Lanka such as George Deakins, Lydia Beresford Bruce and Jan Korthals alongside a selection of art-related books.

Interested collectors will also have the opportunity to view the paintings in person over three days from April 3rd to 5th. During the auction, a live digital display of each piece will accompany the proceedings.

The auction will commence at 10a.m. on April 6. An auction catalogue is available, allowing prospective buyers to view the artworks in advance. The catalogue will be accessible via Schokman & Samerawickreme’s website and social media platforms.
