Psychology Day 2025, organised by PCHE in collaboration with Deakin University, was held on March 20, 2025, at the Lighthouse Auditorium, Colombo 07. The event commenced at 9:30 AM and brought together around 100 students from across the country, along with academics and professionals, to explore key areas of psychology through expert-led sessions and discussions. Charthri Wijenayake, Manager – Partnerships, Deakin International – Sri Lanka Country Office, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event featured insightful presentations on forensic psychology, child psychology, and industrial and organisational psychology, providing attendees with valuable knowledge and practical applications of psychological principles.

The session on Forensic Psychology was conducted by Dr. Meaghan Danby, who holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) (Honours) from Deakin University, Australia. Delivered online, this session provided an introduction to forensic psychology, covering its different aspects and real-world applications. Dr. Danby incorporated practical exercises, making the session highly interactive and engaging.

The segment on Industrial and Organizational Psychology was conducted by Ms. Yasaara Kaluaratchi, Director of Academics & Senior Lecturer at PCHE, and Ms. Binuri Dharmasena, Lecturer & Health and Wellbeing Counsellor at PCHE. They addressed workplace psychology, employee well-being, and strategies for enhancing productivity and job satisfaction. Experts shared insights on how psychological principles are applied in corporate settings to improve leadership, teamwork, and organisational success.

In the discussion on Child Psychology, Ms. Anthe Ickx, Clinical Psychologist, and Ms. Binu Salgadu, Lecturer at PCHE, led the session, focusing on crucial aspects of childhood development, including emotional and cognitive growth, behavioural patterns, and psychological interventions that support children’s well-being. The session emphasised the importance of early childhood experiences in shaping future behaviour and mental health.

Psychology Day 2025 created an interactive space for thought-provoking discussions, networking, and career exploration in psychology.
