The Annual Prize-Giving of Polymath International School was held on March 18, 2025, at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in a grand and prestigious ceremony. The event was graced by Dr. Darshana Samaraweera, Deputy Director General of the Faculty of Languages, Humanities, and Social Science at the National Institute of Education, as the Chief Guest.

The gathering included many distinguished guests, such as Mrs. Mercy Edussuriya, former Principal of Visakha Vidyalaya, and Mr. Edussuriya, former Vice Principal of Royal College, along with nearly a hundred members of the academic staff. The welcoming procession led by the school’s Western Band set the tone for an unforgettable day, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.

A School on a Journey of Excellence

In his keynote address, Mr. Upali Gunasekara, Principal of Polymath International School and Chairman of Polymath Education, reflected on the school’s remarkable growth and achievements. He recalled the institution’s first-ever Prize Giving Ceremony on January 12, 2024, when the student population had surpassed 1,000 students. Within just one year, this number had grown exponentially, with the school population exceeding 1,000 and the combined total of nursery and school students surpassing 1,500.

This rapid expansion is a testament to the trust, confidence, and support that parents and the community have placed in Polymath International School, recognising it as a center of academic excellence and holistic education.

Beyond Academics: A Holistic Educational Approach

The Annual Prize-Giving Ceremony 2025 was not just a platform for recognising academic excellence but also a celebration of holistic education. Polymath International School continues to go beyond traditional classroom teaching, ensuring that students are equipped with socio-emotional learning, life skills, and an innovative mindset.

A distinctive feature of Polymath’s curriculum is the integration of theoretical knowledge with real-world application. The school has introduced Innovative Thinking and Implementation (ITI) as part of its syllabus, supplementing traditional learning with creativity, critical thinking, and hands-on problem-solving skills. This forward-thinking approach prepares students to meet the challenges of the modern world with confidence and adaptability.

Alongside academics, Polymath embraces a broad range of extracurricular activities, including sports, dance, music, drama, and singing. These talents were brilliantly showcased on the prize-giving stage, demonstrating the school’s commitment to a well-rounded education. Additionally, an exhibition of student-led creative projects and innovations was held, underscoring Polymath’s dedication to fostering creativity and critical thinking.

Pathways to Higher Education

Polymath International School not only prepares students for success in school but also paves the way for their higher education and future careers. Students who complete their formal education at Polymath International School or any other recognised educational institution now have the opportunity to pursue higher education through a variety of locally and internationally recognised pathways introduced by Polymath Campus.

Polymath Campus offers diverse academic and professional qualifications, including programmes accredited by TVEC , DLC , Pearson , and other internationally recognised bodies. This ensures that students can choose a pathway that aligns with their interests, strengths, and career aspirations, whether in vocational education, diploma programmes, or university degrees. By providing these opportunities, Polymath continues its mission of empowering students beyond school and into their professional lives.
