MAS Athlete Training Academy Supports Sri Lanka’s Rising Athletes

The MAS Athlete Training Academy, a key initiative of MAS Holdings, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s sporting talent through a special sponsorship ceremony held at Sri Lanka Olympic House. The event celebrated the provision of sports gears and per diem sponsorships to promising athletes and coaches who are going to attend the Asian Under-18 Athletics Championships to be held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia during April, empowering them to pursue excellence in their respective disciplines.

The event commenced with an opening remark by Ruwan Keragala, the Chief Operating Officer of MAS Intimates and Director of the MAS Athlete Training Academy. In his speech, he highlighted MAS Holdings’ dedication to fostering athletic development in Sri Lanka and underscored the company’s continued investment in young sports talents.

The selected athletes who will represent Sri Lanka at the Asian Under-18 Athletics Championship with officials of MAS Holdings

Suresh Subramaniam, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka emphasised the importance of corporate involvement in nurturing Sri Lanka’s future champions. Olympian Sriyani Kulawansa, the President of the Sri Lanka Olympian Association, praised the initiative and motivated the athletes with her invaluable experience to make the most of the support extended to them.

The athletes and coaches received sports gears and per diem sponsorships from the MAS Athlete Training Academy were Shavindu Awishka, Iresh Bogoda, Shanuka Nethmal, Dhananjana Sewmini, Tharushi Pemasiri, Sansala Senevirathna, Sachini Maduhansika, Dilki Nehara, Rehan Perera and coached Anuradha Nanayakkara and Buddika Nuwan.

Following the sponsorship presentation, Isuru Gunaratne, the Director of the MAS Athlete Training Academy, delivered closing remarks, reiterating MAS Holdings’ unwavering commitment to Sri Lankan sports and athlete development.

The MAS Athlete Training Academy continues to play a pivotal role in identifying and nurturing young athletes, equipping them with the necessary resources to compete at national and international levels. This initiative aligns with MAS Holdings’ broader vision of empowering Sri Lankan talent and fostering a culture of sporting excellence in the country.
