Nuwara Eliye book launch
View(s):Journalist Shelton Hettiarchchi who has been working for newspapers for many years has authored a book named ‘Nuwara Eliye Salakunu’.
The book explains about historic places, locations with historic importance, as well as important religious places within Nuwara Eliya. The book incorporates pictures of the historic places and monuments.
Mr Hettirachchi’s book explains about the historic stone slab inscription held at Nuwara Eliya and how it was exhibited at the old District Secretariat office.
Apart from that, the book contains pictures and information about the 172-year-old Holy Trinity Church, Gregory Lake, Sitha Kovil, Hakgala Gardens, Handatenna Paradise, Nuwara Eliya old engineer’s office are some of the landmarks featured in the book.
The book, which contains 31 chapters, explains 26 locations in Nuwara Eliya District while from chapter 26 onwards the book explains attractive places in Kothmale, Ambagamuwa, Walapane and Hanguranketha divisional secretary areas.
