The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Sri Lanka proudly announces the return of its flagship event, the National HR Conference (NHRC) 2025, set to take place on June 2nd and 3 rd at the Monarch Imperial, Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte. Under the timely theme “Empowering People for a Thriving Nation,” this year’s conference will emphasise the transformative power of human capital in shaping a resilient, innovative, and prosperous Sri Lanka. At a time when the country is navigating complex socio-economic challenges, NHRC 2025 aims to highlight the vital role of empowered individuals, inclusive workspaces, and forward-thinking leadership in national progress.

The theme resonates deeply with the belief that real, sustainable change begins with people. When individuals are equipped with the right knowledge, environment, and mindset, they become the driving force behind growth—within organisations, communities, and the nation at large. The official launch of NHRC 2025 was held at the CIPM Head Office, where the ceremonial media briefing featured remarks from several key figures including Mr. Priyantha Ranasinghe, President of CIPM Sri Lanka; Col. Saman Jayawickrama (Retd.), Chairman of the NHRC 2025 Committee; Mr. Ken Vijayakumar, Chairman of the Technical Committee; Mr. Kanishka Ranaweera, Chairman of The Great HR Debate 2025; and Mr. Jayantha Abeyratne, Chairman of The National HR Exhibition 2025.

A significant moment of the launch was the unveiling of the official NHRC 2025 website, marking the countdown to what promises to be a landmark HR gathering. Speaking at the launch, Mr. Ranasinghe stated, “NHRC 2025 serves as a  dynamic platform for professionals to reflect, learn, and reimagine the future of work. By staying ahead of the curve, HR leaders can empower people and institutions to thrive in a fast-changing world.” With over 1,200 participants expected—including HR professionals, business leaders, policymakers, academics, and international delegates—the conference will feature two days of technical sessions, expert panels, and interactive forums.

Key topics to be explored includes, Transformative Leadership for a World-Class Workforce, Powering National Productivity in the Digital Era, Diversity for Creativity: Strengthening Social Cohesion, Well-being at Work: Creating Beautiful Lives, Global Perspectives and Their Impact on Sri Lanka’s Human Capital. Col. Jayawickrama highlighted the conference’s strategic approach, stating, “The curated lineup of speakers and themes is aimed at igniting meaningful conversations and practical strategies that will shape the next generation of talent and leadership.” One of the key attractions will be the keynote by Mr. Andrew Bryant, a globally renowned expert on self- leadership and executive coaching. Known for his compelling presentations, Bryant will address how individuals can lead with confidence and resilience in an AI-driven and disruptive world. Adding further value to the conference are a series of dynamic parallel events. The National HR Exhibition, featuring over 30 leading organisations, will showcase cutting-edge innovations and solutions in HR, offering attendees rich opportunities for networking and discovery. The much-anticipated Great HR Debate, which kicked off in April with 20 teams and culminates on the first day of the conference, will bring together top HR teams in intellectually rigorous exchanges on the profession’s most urgent challenges. This year, we are also proud to collaborate with Toastmasters International (District 82) to provide specialised training and upskilling opportunities for participating HR professionals, further enriching their communication and leadership capabilities.

The event will also celebrate excellence through the prestigious Lifetime Gold Award, honoring a distinguished HR professional for their outstanding lifetime contributions to the field. This year’s conference is made possible through the support of a strong network of partners, led by LinkedIn Corporation as the Lead Event Partner and Strategic Partner for 2025. Additional official partners include PickMe, Pearl Bay, LayUp, and several other distinguished brands who share a commitment to advancing human resource development in Sri Lanka. The CEO of the institute, Mr. U. A. C. Obeyesekere also stated that “the NHRC Secretariat is now fully geared for an event of this magnitude ready to reach a new milestone yet again this year”. Registration for NHRC 2025 is now officially open, with early bird offers available until May 10, 2025. For registration, sponsorship opportunities, or further details, interested parties are encouraged to visit www.cipmlk.org or contact Dilan at 0716 450 613. NHRC 2025 stands as a call to action for all HR practitioners, business leaders, policymakers, and academics to come together and contribute to shaping the future
