University of Bordeaux and University of Jaffna discuss academic collaborations
View(s):A high-level delegation from France has discussed with the University of Jaffna about potential academic collaborations, including a future memorandum of understanding (MoU).
The French delegation led by Dr Delphine Thivet, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Sociology, University of Bordeaux, France met with University of Jaffna Vice Chancellor, Prof Sivakolundu Srisatkunarajah and its members and held discussions recently.
The discussions focused on student and faculty exchanges, joint research programmes, and partnerships in the social sciences and humanities.
Dr R Uthaya Suriyan, Associate Researcher at the French Institute of Pondicherry also took part in the meeting. They emphasised the importance of strengthening educational ties between France and Sri Lanka.
University of Jaffna Vice Chancellor, Prof Srisatkunarajah, welcomed the initiative, stating, “This collaboration will enhance academic excellence and provide global opportunities for our students.”
The proposed MoU is expected to facilitate scholarships, research grants, and cultural exchanges. Further discussions will take place in the coming months to finalize the agreement.
