In a landmark event for the hill capitsl, the Kandy Garden Club (KGC), proudly hosted the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) Junior Tournament and the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) Ranking Tournament for the first time in its long history. The tournament marked Kandy’s debut as a venue for an international tennis event, drawing arounf 45 pariticpants from countries including Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, Kazakhstan, the United States, and hosts Sri Lanka.

The success of the tournament was made possible through the tireless efforts of Tournament Director Ravi Ramanathan and Tennis Secretary Dr. Asanka Abeyratne, the dynamic leadership of KGC President Dr. Chamindra Ekanayake. Their dedication, along with the generous support of several institutions from Kandy, who stepped forwards as sponsors, ensured the smooth execution of the tournament.

SLTA officials and international players expressed high praise for the quality of the KGC courts, the efficient organization, and the warm hospitality extended by the club. The tournament concluded on a high note, with hopes of establishing Kandy as a regular host for events of this calibre in the future, powered by the continued support of the people of Kandy and the surrounding region.
