Styles out of this world

It was fascination beyond creativity. An evening where imagination soared while lights and sound fired up the mood.(image5)

(image4)It was the night of the "Hair Raisers" show at the Colombo Hilton last Monday where four of Colombo's top hair salons paid tribute to Paul Mitchell in a display of contemporary hair designs.

With a special audio -visual in the background highlighting each of the salons before their individual performances, the stage was transformed from the mere catwalk into a futuristic space-walk.

The first of the salons, Ramani Fernando salons featured design concepts and styling of cuts and up-do's. The models in black or white wore short hair that was styled and coloured.
Rumours displayed colour sculptures of hair in different lengths.

(image8)Textured scapes was Ramzi and Team's concept. With models dressed in black and white stripes they featured long hair in braids and perms, twists and curls.

(image9)The most imaginative creation of the evening had to be the futuristic designs of Lou Ching Wong. The stage was set up with the most convincing monster trapped in a glass cage. Then on came his models dressed in white plastic with the most creative hair styles. A metamorphosis in hair styles more suitable for the space-age.

The Hair Raisers show was a tribute from Paul Mitchell a leading manufacturer of professional hair products in the USA. The show was choreographed by Senaka de Silva and presented by Priyani Don Carolis representative for Paul Mitchell in Sri Lanka. The event was co-sponsored by The Sunday Times
