Dine while the river flows byOn the banks of Sri Lanka's longest river, The Citadel is wrapped in a relaxing at mosphere even if the hotel is just a stone's throw away from the bustle of the Kandy town.Citadel managed by John Keells Hotel Management, is well known in Kandy for the delicious French and International cuisine served at The Restaurant. Dine in grandeur as the river flows wide and langurous just below. The rooms-recently renovated- look warm and inviting. Decorated in warm tones and earthy colours, incorporating Kandyan motifs on fabric, it would be a pleasure to snuggle-up in bed and read a book on a rainy day. Wake up to mornings where the mist hangs above a calm river, hot and sunny afternoons filled with activity or lazing by the pool and cool evenings with a drink in hand and a good dinner laid out. Be prepared to be spoilt. To fill those long, hot afternoons the hotel has a line up of entertainment. Boat rides can be had on the river, exploring the Mahaweli as it loops through the Kandy town on its way to the reservoirs that feed the country's most extensive irrigation network. Fishing is on offer, for those who feel like a spot of angling in the river. Cycles are available for hire for those who might prefer to explore the countryside. For the indoor types, billiards and snooker and table-tennis will keep them occupied. The hotel has two bars and its own shopping arcade. For those with small children, there's good news- the hotel has its own baby-sitting service. Hotel rooms are sold at Rs. 2,300 per person FB nett (sharing a double) |
