Two special teams investigating the death of the under aged female domestic worker will be in Dayagama today (21) to question the deceased’s mother and family members, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
He said apart from Borella police, two special teams consisting of officers of the Children and Women Bureau and Crime Branch of Colombo South police division are investigating the incident.
“Police have obtained statements from several persons in Puwakpitiya, Avissawella where she spent her childhood days. Meanwhile, the phone belonging to a male worker at the residence has been confiscated and sent to the Criminal Investigation Department for further analysis,” he said.
DIG Ajith Rohana said with permission obtained from courts, phone details and bank statements will be used for investigation.
The victim died from severe burn injuries while working at the residence of former Minister Rishard Bathiudeen. Protests were held during the past few days demanding action against employing a minor, for sexual exploitation and suspicious death.
