QR code-based fuel quota system ends tomorrow

The temporary suspension of the QR code-based fuel quota system for petrol-powered vehicles will come to an end from midnight tomorrow, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has announced.


Navy seized heroin worth  Rs 4 B from a fishing trawler

Sri Lanka Navy seized over 150 kilograms of heroin, valued at around Rs. 4 billion, from a fishing trawler, which was brought to Dikowita Fisheries Harbour.

President appointed commission to probe alleged irregularities in coal procurement
 
A commission of inquiry has been appointed by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to investigate whether irregularities or illegal acts occurred within the state-owned Lanka Coal Company (Pvt) Ltd or its successors in relation to the importation of coal and the generation of electricity, covering the period from the inception of coal-based power generation in Sri Lanka until April 16, 2026.
