Tourist arrival crossed 800,000 mark

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) stated that tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka in 2026 have crossed the 800,000 mark.

Custom officers have arrested a 35-year-old Chinese businessman for illegally bringing a large consignment of China- manufactured cigarettes into the country. 

Commissioner General of Motor Traffic granted bail

The Pilessa Magistrate’s Court in Kurunegala has granted cash bail of Rs. 25,000 and two surety bails of Rs. 200,000 each for the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, Kamal Amarasinghe, who was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for alleged irregularities in vehicle registration.
