The All Ceylon Jamiathul Ulama (ACJU) in a letter addressed to IGP Pujith Jayasundara today (Dec 26) has strictly condemned the damaging of Bhuddist statues in Mawanella.
General Secretary of the ACJU, M.M.A. Mubarak, in the letter requested relevant authorities to punish those involved in the incident irrespective of their ethnic background.
The ACJU further said that it would appreciate the enforcement of law and order in such situations as it would prevent individuals attempting to disrupt the peaceful co-existence amongst all communities.
Further, he requested the IGP to take immediate measures to maintain peace and harmony in the country.
