Former France flanker Thierry Janeczek has been approached by Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) to take over the Sri Lanka Sevens team with a contract of six months.
In a statement SLR emphasised its aspiration to claim a medal in the next Asian Games to be held in Japan later this October, while eyeing the top position of the Asian Sevens Series to be held in China and Sri Lanka.
Janeczek (66), born in French Algeria, turned out for France thrice during 1982 to 1990, but his most outstanding contribution to France came from 1996 to 2010 as their Sevens coach, guiding the Les Bleus to win the World Sevens Series in 2004/05.
Janaczek is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka this weekend.
