Archbishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith today (3) questioned how the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) had released Riyaj Bathiudeen, brother of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen from custody despite keeping him in custody for five months on allegations he was linked to the plotters of the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks. Cardinal Ranjith questioned if the release indicated a "political deal" was afoot.
