Recent ragging incidents at the University of Peradeniya and the University of Kelaniya have brought the ragging issue to the forefront once more. This is a common occurrence, and unless drastic measures are taken, ragging in extreme form will continue.
The disconnection of all state universities and lack of uniform mechanism have been identified as major issues for reducing ragging in universities, State Higher Education Minister Dr. Suren Raghavan said.
