Romesh played golf for the university of Texas team from 1993 to 94 with Justin Lenard. This is the second time he is representing Sri Lanka in the Asian Country finals in Gold Coast firstly year 2000.

As a junior he was coached by Chris Seymour. In the end he found his way to the National team as a teenager. At Texas University it was legendary golfer Harvey Tenick who was his coach.
