in their economic difficulties. Though financially well-off this
couple is sad as they are not blessed with children. When all attempts
at poojas and prayers become fruitless, the husband goes to an astrologer
in the neighbouring village. To his dismay he is told that they
would not have children. Disappointed Game Eththo keeps it a secret

'Belaya' a descendant of the Veddha is a stalwart
youngman who has inherited their traits. He and the monk from the
village temple are the beacons who direct the villagers and guard
them from evil influences that come from outside.
A trouble maker comes to the village in the guise
of a businessman. He gets the villagers to kill animals and gets
the villagers to plant opium in the paddy fields. There are some
villagers who assist the businessman. Gudda, Setharan and Rathana
are some who live this double life style. The biggest cause of these
problems is the illiteracy of the villagers. They get trapped into
the businessman's wiles and most of the time they regret it.
In order to find a solution Game Eththo brings
down his younger brother Sudu Banda who is educated. Soon Sudy Banda
develops his brother's business. He looks after the villagers and
keeps an eye on the shrewd activities of the businessman. Time and
again he assaults the businessman who exploit the poor villagers
and drives him away from the village. Now Sudu Banda is the idol
of both the young and the old.
Guni is a rebellious young attractive girl. She
is in love with Belaya. With the entrance of Sudu Banda, Guni gets
attracted to him. Yet she finds it difficult to get away from Belaya's
influence. Guni's sister, Piyawathi who is married to a man from
the other village returns. Guni elopes with Belaya and they settle
in hut in a the forest. Meanwhile Guni's father is attacked by an
elephant and dies.
Since Belaya is in the village no more, the external
evil influences along with their evils infiltrate the village. The
villagers spread rumors about Game Eththo's family and ruin their
peaceful lives. The purity and calmness of the village is spoiled.
