‘Misty’ at ‘Refreshing Sri Lanka’ in London

'Refreshing Sri Lanka' is a major tourism promotion planned in London next week by the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka along with Sri Lanka Tourism.

This event will be held to coincide with the Sri Lankan Cricket Tour of England. 'Refreshing Sri Lanka' will be inaugurated at the Trafalgar Square in London on Saturday, June 17 to project the country as a destination for tourism, trade and investment.

This will be an open air festival, where the Trafalgar Square will be transformed into a mini Sri Lanka to let the visitors from around the world to savour many facets that the country has to offer. The event would be a form of street festival with trade stalls of traditional Sri Lankan food, handicrafts, tea, jewellery, garments and music and cultural events.

The main music provider of the event is 'Misty' led by Rajitha Rupasinghe
This six piece outfit comprises Rajitha on vocals / keyboards, Damian on vocals/guitar, Dennis on Drums, Udaya (formally with Friends) keyboards / vocals, Sanjeewa on bass /vocals and Mangala on guitar /vocals

The band will be in action again in London on Jun18 at the 'Cricketers Ball' and at the venue of the Festival of Cricket in Shenly Cricket Stadium in London on July 9.

'We just want to be a dance band and we thought to get away from the club circuit in Colombo. Dancers and Corporate events and overseas promotions are our main target market' Rajitha said

Genre of Music of Misty is dance / pop- rock.

'Performance in France for the "Festival De Cannes" in 2004 and performing at the I.T.B Fare in Berlin Germany in years 2004 and 2005 are some of the land marks in our musical journey.' he added.

Misty also performed at the SriLankan Airlines inaugural events in Chin, Frankfurt and Karachi. They also performed at the Cricketers Dance in London in 2003.

Misty will be back in Colombo for Ladies College Dance at Water's Edge on July 29.
