'Eth Kanda Lihini' is a miniplay depicting the victory of the respected culture and tradition, is telecast every Saturday at 8.35 pm on Rupavahini.

Directed by Tikiri Ratnayake and produced by Sama Ratnayake, the miniplay stars Pradeep Senanayake, Himali Saurangi, Sanath Wimalasiri, Veena Jayakody, Lionel Wickrema, Avanthi Aponsu, Prasannajith Abeysuriya, G. R. Perera, Oshadi Hewamadduma, Nalin Pradeep Uduwela, Manjula Moragaha, Piyumi Botheju, Susila Kottege and Rahal Bulathsinghala.

Gotabaya, a member of the Rambukpotha family is an aristocrat. He is an inheritor of worthy family virtues and patriotic values. Sumangala his only son is a monk. His daughter Ayodhya is married to Mahesh Madanayaka, another aristocrat.

Ayodhya realises that Mahesh does not possess the inherent qualities that up-country aristocrats possess. This alienates her from Mahesh. When Ayodhya realises that Mahesh's father has only bought the ancestral home from money earned by criminal means, she is devastated. Mahesh is a swindler who sells artefacts and museum pieces. Gotabaya gets to know about his son-in-law. Yet Ayodhya is frightened to leave Mahesh.

Ayodhya meets Thilanka Munasingha, a dancer on the day of her wedding. Thilanka goes in search of Ayodhya. Meanwhile Ayodhya has left Mahesh and returns home to her parents. Thilanka's only sister Adhisha is a music teacher, in a private school. Her boyfriend, Dhammika is fond of music. He has just returned from India. Adhisha is interested in fashion and likes publicity. She hopes to produce a cassette. Dhammika is against the idea. This creates barriers. One day Adhisha meets Mahesh. He promises to finance her project. As a result she (not knowing who Mahesh is) falls in love with him. Ayodhya meets Thilanka at a dancing class. They cultivate a relationship.

Thilanka doesn't know that his sister's boyfriend Mahesh is Ayodhya's husband. Ayodhya doesn't know that Mahesh's girlfriend is Thilanka's sister, Adhisha doesn't know that her brother's sweetheart is her boyfriend's ex-wife.

It was at this stage that the election for Basnayake Nilame was in progress in Rambukpotha Vishnu Devalaya. Gotabhaya contests and wins with the help of Sumangala Thera. Mahesh becomes indebted as a result of this election and tries to auction his walawwa. Meanwhile Sewmini who had worked for Mahesh joins the Rambukpothas. Dhammika finally falls in love with Oshadhi who is Thilanga's pupil.

The screenplay is written by K. B. Herath, edited by Manjula Malwatte, camera and lighting is handled by Chandana Dharmapriya. Rohana Weerasinghe directed the musical score while Nuwan Sanuranka de Silva handled the art direction, Priyantha Dissanayake-makeup Ravindra Wijeyratne assisted the direction.
