The newest addition to the popular authentic Indian food restaurant in town ‘Curry Leaves’, is a Karaoke and Sports Bar known as ‘Happenings’ managed by a veteran in the field of Karaoke jockeying Tanzil Niyaz.

This is the most recent addition to ‘Curry Leaves’ which for the past seven years has been serving delightful treats to lovers of Indian food in Sri Lanka.

The Karaoke and Sports Bar with a collection of more than 2000 English songs one can select from is a place for friends and family to gather in the evening and enjoy themselves, said Tanzil whose previous work experience includes 10 years at the Hilton Karoke bar "lava" and a year at the Galadari's "nightingale" bar.

‘This place is cozy and family oriented and we want to attract that kind of crowd here,’ Tanzil said. He has many plans to make the place a popular nightspot in town.

Beginning from the last week, ‘Happenings’ began its Koraoke competition which will be held every Wednesday in which a winner will be picked.

The winner will take part in the grand finals in December. There is also a ladies night every last Friday of the month and Tazil has plans for a ladies club as well.

The sports bar too is a cozy place mainly for lovers of sports with several popular sporting events played on wide screen television sets for the benefit of visitors. Admission to the two bars is Rs500 for gents and free for ladies.

Along with the new additions, ‘Curry Leaves' will continue to serve its authentic Indian food, prepared exclusively by Indian chefs with their specialties Hydrabadi chicken buriyani, Mutton Lucknowi Kurma and chicken pickle masala among those to choose from.

The Restaurant is open for lunch seven days a week from 12.00noon to 3.30p.m. with an all inclusive lunch buffet available at Rs 480/-, which consists 14 items of vegetarian and non-vegetarian curries, soup, salads, Indian naans and desserts. Dinner is served between 6.30p.m. and 12.30a.m. priced at Rs 750/- with a buffet consisting off 22 items, salads, naans , and deserts.

‘There is also a kebab corner serving during dinnertime. The restaurant also has a ca carte menu from which on can order’ the Restaurant Manager Moshin Khan said.

It also has a delivery service as well as a party hall which can accommodate upto 150 persons as well as outdoor catering serving from 20 to 2000 persons, he said.
