By Harry Jayachandra

Old Peterites bashed Old Bens by 6 wickets in their annual quadrangular tournament semi final played at Bambalapitiya yesterday. Originally scheduled for 50 overs, the match was reduced to 35 overs in anticipation of rain.

Asked to take first lease, the Benedictines were shot out for just 88 runs. Test discard Kaushalya Lokuarachchi ripped the heart out of the Bens batting. The leg spinning all rounder finished with figures of 5 for 14. Rally Tissera was the only batsman to play with any confidence. He top scored with 24

Chasing the extremely modest score, the hosts suffered a couple of early hiccups. Hard hitting Indunil Anthony and the stylish Rukshan Dias were both dismissed for identical scores of 19. However, Gehan de Silva with an unbeaten 27 and Samiddha Gallage with 17 not out anchored the Old Peterites to victory with more than 14 overs to spare.
