Dimuth and Ruwantha put St. Joseph’s on top

A fine knock of 137 with 19 boundaries and a six by Dimuth Karunaratne who along with Ruwantha Fernandopulle put an opening stand of 187 helped St. Joseph’s to end the first day’s play in a strong position of 238 for 3 against Maris Stella in their Under 20 Elephant Lemonade inter-school cricket match played at Negombo.

Earlier in the day Maris Stella taking first lease of the wicket were bowled out for just 77 with last weeks duo who helped the Joes to record an outright victory over DSS skipper Rajeewa Weerasinghe taking five scalps and Angelo Mathew four wickets doing the damage. The match will continue at 9/.30 a.m. today.
