Medagolla guides St. Anthony’s

Determined batting by Harsha Medagolla (49), M. Perera (34) and K. Ekanayake (24) enabled St. Anthony’s Katugastota to gain a first innings win over S. Thomas’ Mt. Lavinia in their Lemonade trophy schools cricket encounter concluded at Mt. Lavinia yesterday.

S.Thomas’ continuing from their overnight score of 157 for 7,went on to collect 163. S. Pussegolla (35) and T. Nugawela (35) were the chief scorers for the Thomians.

For St.Anthony’s left arm spinner S. Palihakkara bowled best to capture three wickets for twenty six runs.

The Antonians were all out for 179 with S. Pussegolla (4 for 30) and Naweed Ghany (3 for 54) doing the damage.

In bowling off spinner Pussegolla shone the Thomians once again bagging 4 wickets for 30 runs. He was well supported by medium pacer Naweed Ghany who finished with figures of 3 for 54.

Batting a second time the Thomians were 7 for no loss when bad light cried a halt to the game.

S. Thomas – 157 for 7 contd. 163 all out – (S. Pussegolla 35, T. Nugawela 35; S. Hettiarachchi 2 for 22, K. Ekanayake 2 for 23, S. Palihakkara 3 for26, F. Leonard 2 for 14) and 7 for no loss when bad light stopped play at 5 p.m.
