HSBC opens Learning Centre for staff

HSBC last week opened its first dedicated Learning Centre for employees in Colombo on the fifth floor of the Lakshman’s Building at 321, Galle Road, Colombo 3.

It was declared open by the chief guest, Lena Chan, head of learning and employee development, HSBC Asia-Pacific. Spacious and centrally located, the Learning Centre is built according to the HSBC Group’s international standards and is well equipped to meet the learning and development needs of the rapidly growing number of employees at HSBC. The centre has four training rooms with state-of-the-art facilities, an auditorium, two systems training rooms with fully-equipped personal computers, a model branch to aid in the training of new staff, a meeting room and a syndicate room, a bank statement said.

The opening ceremony also coincided with the launch of the Learning and Development webpage where, at the click of a button, employees can browse through the online Learning Management Systems (LMS) programmes and identify training programmes on offer, as well as explore features such as the leadership development roadmap for all staff and direct links to related websites within the HSBC Group. The bank also launched a computer-based learning solutions system where employees are facilitated to proceed through an automated accreditation procedure on selected workflows.
