Nov. 26: A national hero is remembered

The National Patriotic Movement (NPM) will commemorate today the 188th anniversary of the death of Weera Keppetipola, a national hero who sacrificed his life in the fight against colonial rule.

The commemoration ceremony will start at 2.00 pm in Kandy with the offering of flowers to the Dalada Maligawa. Thereafter, the participants will go in a procession to the Keppetipola statue and pay floral tributes, the NPM stated.

A commemoration meeting will be held at the D.S. Senanayake Hall where a book published by the NPM on the national hero will be launched.
