Angampitiya take girls title

E.E.C. Abayasekara Memorial Colombo District Schools Volleyball Tournament

The E.E.C. Abayasekara memorial Colombo District School Volleyball Tournament organized by the YMCA of Dehiwela was concluded on 12th November 2006 at the YMCA Grounds.

Twenty-eight schools participated and a very high standard of Volleyball was witnessed. Angampitiya Vidyalaya won the Girls event whereas Buddhist Girls Mt. Lavina finished as Runners up. The Boy’s winners were Nalanda College Colombo and Runners up St. Sebastian College Moratuwa.

Mrs. Sunethra Ranasinghe the Mayor of the Dehiwela-Mt. Lavinia Municipal Council graced the opening ceremony and helped to volley off the Tournament on 11th November. The Final day prize distribution was officiated by Rohan Karunaratne the Zonal Deputy Director of (Sports) of the Department of Education. The Tournament was organized by the YMCA to honour the Late Mr. E.C.C. Abayasekara for his commitment and services to building strong Children, strong families and strong Communities through the YMCA of Dehiwela.
