Buddha Jayanthi movies from Amaranath J.

Reputed Filmologist AMARNATH JAYATILAKA is now making preparations to begin the production of two movies to coincide with the 2550th Buddha Jayanthi.

One of Amarnath's main objectives is to use the medium of the MOVING IMAGE to portray Buddhist Culture and to disseminate the Message of Buddhism throughout the world. He believes that this Buddha Jayanthi Year is the appropriate occasion to fulfill this ambition.

The first in a series of movies based on 'TALES FROM BUDDHA'S TIME" titled "PATACHARA" - the well-known story in Buddhist literature, which is THE OLDEST RECORDED LOVE STORY WITH THE MOST TRAGIC END THAT HAPPENED IN HUMAN HISTORY 2500 YEARS AGO IN INDIA. This film is to be made originally in Sinhala will also be dubbed into Hindi and other Indian languages for exhibition in INDIA. It will also be exported to all the Buddhist countries in Asia.

The second film titled "AWAKENING OF A LOTUS' to be made in English is the ODYSSEY OF AN AMERICAN YOUNG WOMAN'S DISCOVERY OF BUDDHIST CULTURE IN SRI LANKA. It is a film for global release with the target market in America. As these two films are designed for export they will be made in Cinemascope and Stereophonic Sound System of Dolby Digital Sound.
